box score
Goodwin scored 33 points, his season best (and since this is his first year at UW-W, his UW-W career best), hitting 12-18 from the field. That shooting included 8-13 from beyond the arc, sixth in the UW-Whitewater record book for three-pointers made in a game. (Eric Burdette holds the record with 12, February 24, 1996.) Goodwin's previous high as a Warhawk came against the Blue Devils January 19, when he scored 29.
Vernon, a junior forward, added 22 points, topping his previous best output of 21 versus UW-Eau Claire one week ago. He was also the game's leading rebounder, with seven. And, like Goodwin, Vernon is hoisting shots at every opportunity to get production. He was 7-12 from the floor and 8-10 from the line.
Koski, Whitewater's sophomore point guard, dished to Goodwin and Vernon for ten assists, tying is career high ten assists, equaling the mark he set in the win over Stout in January.
Stout was led by freshman forward Eric Hostetter's 13 points, with senior guard Miles Webb adding 10. UW-S junior center Jesse Piehl led both teams with three blocked shots.
With Stout leading 22-12 in the first half, Whitewater outscored the Blue Devils 15-3 and went on to head in to the locker room up 40-29.
Whitewater used another run early in the second half to put the game on ice. Leading 47-37, this of 15-4 put the game 62-41 with 12:08 left. UW-W's margin grew to as large as twenty-five in the second half.
Whitewater had just nine turnovers in the game, the third time this season that the Warhawks have been in single figures in that category. One of the most telling statistics was free throws, with Whitewater making 17-22, while Stout hit 5-10.
UW-W, 18-3 overall and tied for first place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 10-2 mark, is ranked fourth in the national poll compiled by D3hoops.com. UW-Stout is 4-17 overall and 1-11 in the WIAC.
The Warhawks will face UW-Platteville, tied with UW-W for the WIAC lead, in Platteville Wednesday night.
