UW-Whitewater finished fifth out of fourteen teams in the Capital Classic, hosted by Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware Saturday and Sunday. UW-W's
Heather Kowalski (Rogers City, MI/Rogers City) finished eleventh in the field of eight-one bowlers, with a 200.8 average. Kowalski's high game was a 236, the sixth best by a Warhawk this season, and she rolled a 647 series, the highest by a UW-W bowler this season.
Team scores were: Maryland-Eastern Shore 7748, New Jersey City 7250, Fairleigh Dickinson 7195, Delaware State 7151, UW-Whitewater 7084, Adelphi 6917, Morgan State 6792, Kutztown 6498, Saint Francis (NY) 6430, Hampton 6357, Howard 6279, Bowie State 6176, Coppin State 5399, and Cheyney 4209.
Candice D'Angelo of New Jersey City won the tourney with 1140 total poins (a 228 average). Other UW-W competitors included

Kim Ashby (Loves Park, IL/Harlem) 48th,

Kayla Schmidt (Johnston, IA/Johnston) 73rd. Individual standings were based on total pinfall, not average.
Among the schools that finished ahead of UW-W, Maryland-Eastern Shore is ranked third in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, New Jersey City sixth, Fairleigh Dickinson fifth, and Delaware State tenth. Among others in the tourney Adelphi is fifteenth, Saint Francis seventeenth, and Bowie State twentieth. UW-Whitewater is ranked sixteenth. There are no divisions in National Collegiate Athletic Association women's bowling, with all schools sponsoring the sport ranked in one poll.
