UW-W Goes 3-2 on Day One of Capital Classic

UW-Whitewater went 3-2 in head-to-head competition at the first day of the Capital Classic hosted by Delaware State University in Dover, Delaware. 

UW-W lost to Adelphi 923-923 in a tie breaker, and lost to the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore 1021-902.  The Warhawks defeated Coppin State 953-730, Saint Francis (NY) 979-874, and Bowie State 931-829.

UW-W was in fifth place in the tournament after day one, with the standings determined by total pinfall, not wins and losses.  The standings were Maryland-Eastern 5187, Adelphi 4931, Delaware State 4893, Fairleigh Dickinson 4758, and UW-W 4688.

Maryland-Eastern Shore is ranked third in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, Adelphi is fifteenth, Saint Francis seventeenth, and Bowie State twentieth.  UW-Whitewater is ranked sixteenth.  There are no divisions in National Collegiate Athletic Association women's bowling, with all schools sponsoring the sport ranked in one poll.

Sunday's final day of competition will use the Baker format.
