Warhawks Take Down Eau Claire 39-9

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team, ranked 10th according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, defeated UW-Eau Claire 39-9 in a dual meet tonight, Wednesday December 4.

Warhawk Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East) is ranked number one in his 141 pound weight class and remains undefeated at 9-0 with a technical fall win over Zach Weisenberger of UW-Eau Claire. Teammate Pat Nagel (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown), although he did not compete tonight, is ranked sixth at 165 pounds.
 
At 157 pounds, UW-W's Tom Trieloff (Janesville/Craig) records the fastest pin of the night and his first pin of the season with a 42 second pin over Eau Claire's Jon Ames. In total, the Warhawks combined for five pins, one tech fall and a major decision.
 
The win brings UW-W's dual meet record to 3-1. UW-Eau Claire moves to 0-5.
 
The Warhawks will be traveling to Kenosha, WI for the Wisconsin open and to Wabash, Indiana for the Little State wrestling tournament Saturday, December 6. Both meets are scheduled to start at 9:00 am.
