Warhawks Dominate Regents

UW-Whitewater increases their win streak to five games with a win over Rockford College in a game played Saturday night at the Kachel Gym in Whitewater.

Whitewater scored first within the first minute of the game and never fell behind the rest of the way. In the first half, the Warhawks went on a 16 point run that Regent forward Britney Curry halted with a jumpshot. The largest lead in the half by Whitewater was 37 points with less than three minutes left in the half and going into halftime with a score of 48-11.

The Warhawks continued to increase their lead shutting down most of Rockford's offense. Every Warhawk player contributed in some way in the substantial 82-35 win over Rockford.

Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial) was one of the two Warhawks that scored in double-digits with twenty points, while Dana Thompson (Belleville/Belleville) had 16 points.

Rockford's leading scorer was Curry with a total of 15 points. Melissa Saziek led the Regents in rebounding with 11 and Tori Turman led the team with 3 steals.

Whitewater also had season highs in assists (21), steals (19), field goals made (32), and ties the season record for rebounds (47).

Last time the Warhawks kept their opponents score under forty points was December 12, 1999 against Muhlenberg College with 37 points. The last time the Warhawks forced 25 or move turnovers was against UW-Platteville on February 26, 2008 when they forced 37.

The Warhawks are now 9-1 and hope to continue their win streak. The Regents record is now 2-8 overall.

The next game for the Warhawks will be at the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida the 28th and 30th of December.
