The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team, ranked fifth according to the D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN polls, defeated UW-Oshkosh tonight, 65-49, at the Kolf Center in Oshkosh.
The Warhawks started off on an 8-0 run after two three pointers from
Kelsey Hendrickson (Monroe/Monroe) and a layup by
Heidi Sonntag forced a quick timeout by the Titans just one and a half minutes into the game. Down by as much as nine, Oshkosh fought back to within three by the end of the half with a score of 33-30. Hendrickson's 12 points, 4-5 from the three point line, led both teams in the half.

UW-W never lost the lead and led by as much as 25 with just three minutes left in the game.
Whitewater shot just 44% from the free throw line to the Titans' 64%. But the Warhawks shot 42% from the floor and took care of the ball committing 18 turnovers while the Oshkosh shot just 32% from the field and turned the ball over 25 times.
Leading the Titans, Tiffany Pugh and Laura Ebbens both had nine points. Shelby Churchill had a game high ten boards.
The win tonight brings the Warhawks' record to 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Oshkosh drops to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in the WIAC.
UW-W women's basketball's next match-up will be at home Saturday, December 20 against Rockford College with a scheduled start time of 5:00 pm.
