UW-Whitewater defeated UW-Superior 76-53 Saturday evening at Gates Gymnasium in Superior, Wisconsin. The Warhawks, ranked sixth and seventh in the two national Division III polls, are 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Superior hung tough for most of the first half, but late in the period Whitewater built a double digit lead, 27-17 at 3:14 and the Warhawks' lead was never less than double digits, racing twenty-eight at 65-37 with 8:59 left in the contest.
The Warhawk margin was built on a 39-19 rebounding bulge, 19 turnovers to 28 for UW-S, and UW-W went 13-18 from the line and UW-S was 9-12.
Three Warhawks scored in double figures, with Heidi Sonntag (Milwaukee/Wisconsin Lutheran) leading both teams with 15, and Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial) and Kelsey Hendrickson (Monroe/Monroe) contributing 11 each. Morton notched her fifth double-double of the season, with a game high 13 rebounds. Rachel Woolever (Colfax/Colfax) had a game high five steals. UW-W coach Keri Carollo let everyone stretch their legs after the long bus ride, using seventeen players in the game, fourteen of whom scored.
Anna Peterson led Superior, 3-5 and 0-2, with 14 points, with Hailey Hart adding 11.
UW-W will continue WIAC play at UW-Oshkosh Wednesday, and return home to host Rockford College Saturday the 20th at 5:00 at Kachel Gym in Williams Center.
