A Bruce Langer (Milton/Milton) eight yard scramble on the opening drive of the game capped a five play, seventy yard mark as UW-W took a 7-0 lead at 12:37, and that proved to be the only scoring of the quarter.

In the second quarter field position played a key role in the second score, as UW-W took possession after a punt at the Stout 44 yard line.  Levell Coppage (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park) ran for five yards, and Langer connected with Aaron Rusch (Hartford/Hartford) for the remaining thirty-nine yards to make it 14-0 after Jeff Schebler (Davenport, IA/Assumption)'s second PAT at 8:55.

Field position, again, figured in Whitewater's third score.  Taking over at their own 49, UW-W moved the ball to the Stout 29 in five plays.  Schebler came on to boot the 46 yard field goal, making it 17-0 at 10:51 in the third.  Schebler's field goal was his fifty-second of his career, tying the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III career record, also held by Ken Edelman of Mount Union College (1987-90).

A big return by Kendall Wade on the ensuing kickoff gave Stout the ball at their own 46.  Eleven plays later Kyle Martin put the Blue Devils on the board with a 26 yard field goal at 6:03.

A surprise punt from an offensive formation by Stout quarterback Kyle Provos, with UW-S facing fourth and thirteen on the Whitewater thirty-four, pinned the Warhawks back to the three yard line.

After Stout's defense held the Blue Devils regained the ball at Whitewater's 36.  Provos passed to Nate Schoenecker for a two-yard TD to close the margin to 17-10.

UW-Stout had one more shot, taking over at their own 31 with 2:38 left.  Twelve plays later they had advanced to the Whitewater 19 with :06 left, but a final pass fell incomplete.

The teams combined for 26 penalties for 265 yards.  Stout totaled 315 yards of offense, just 88 in the first half.  Whitewater totaled 236 yards.  Whitewater's defense stymied the Blue Devils on third down, making Stout 0-12 in third down situations.

Linebackers Jace Rindahl (Cambridge/Cambridge) and Lane Olson (Racine/Horlick) led UW-W with eleven tackles apiece.  Rindahl added a quarterback sack, and DB Zach Christopherson (Hartford/Hartford) picked off a pass for the second week in a row.  Rusch caught five passes for 105 yards and the TD for UW-W.  Provos completed 16-39 for 170 yards, one touchdown and one interception for UW-S.  Three Blue Devils had totaled six tackles.

UW-Whitewater is 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the WIAC. UW-Stout is 5-4 and 3-3.  Whitewater will wrap up the regular season at UW-Platteville Saturday, November 15 at 1:00,
