The 2008 season ended Friday with a 5-2 loss to UW-Eau Claire in the semi-finals of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at Goerke Field in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

UW-W took the lead on a goal by
Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West), assisted by
Emily Gerber (DeForest/DeForest) just 3:05 in to the game. That lead held until 15:19, when UW-EC's Liz Kooistra, assisted by Amy Smith, tied the game. Jessica Millard put the Blugolds ahead for good at 20:00.
Shannon Conlin scored at the 32:42 mark for UW-EC, giving the Blugolds a 3-1 halftime lead.
Eau Claire's Kelsey Figg, at 60:30, and Amy Smith, at 69:10, upped the margin to 5-1.
The game ended as it started for UW-W, with Donohoo scoring, at 80:19 off a pass from
Becky Cera (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West).
Not only did Donohoo score the first and last goal of the game for Whitewater, but she also scored the first and last goal of the season. She opened 2008 with UW-W's goal in a 4-1 loss to Luther College August 29.
Donohoo ended the season with sixteen goals, tied for second in the Warhawk record book. Dani Daggett also scored sixteen in 2002, and the number one spot is held by Wendy Scott, wiwth 20 in the 2000 season. In just three seasons at UW-W Donohoo totaled thirty-five goals, second only to Scott's (1999-2002) mark of 45 in the school records.
Cera also etched her name in the UW-W record book, notching her sixth assist of the season. That ties her for tenth in a single season, but also moved her into a tie for the number one spot for career assists. Cera was credited with nineteen assists as a Warhawk, tying the mark set by Staci Gustafson (2000-2003).
UW-W finished the season with a 10-9-0 mark. UW-Eau Claire will play UW-Stevens Point, a 4-1 winner over UW-La Crosse in the other Friday semifinal, in the championship match Saturday. EC is 17-1-3 and the Pointers are 17-3-0. The Blugolds, the #2 seed, have won the last three WIAC Tournament titles. UW-Stevens Point won the 2008 WIAC regular season championship and is the number one seed in the tourney. The winner of the league tournament receives an automatic berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III championship tournament.
2008 marked the sixth time, in nine years, that UW-W has reached double figures in wins under head coach Greg Henschel.
