The University of Wisconsin Whitewater started their season tonight with two wins in a double-dual meet defeating the University of Chicago 30-6 and Wheaton College 48-3. The University of Chicago also defeated Wheaton College 36-12.

Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East) ties for tenth in the record book with his 18 second pin over Jeff Coners of Wheaton College. Four other Whitewater wrestlers added pins. The list included Kyle Wachholder (Salem/Westosha Central) (1:29), Matt Schuck (Burlington/Burlington Catholic Central) (1:38), Brendan Barrett (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) (4:31) and Pat Nagel (Carpentersville, IL/Dundee-Crown) (6:37). Three Warhawks were able to win by a major decision including Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East) (16-6), Matt Schuck (Burlington/Burlington Catholic Central) (12-4) and David Casper (Westby/Westby) (11-2).
Karl Voeck (Madison/Memorial) was able to bring life to the crowd with a late win over Justin Lucas of Chicago. The wrestlers were stood up with just nine seconds left in the third period and Voeck was down by one. He was able to overpower Lucas to get the take down and the win 4-3 in one of the most intense matches of the night.
