The loss by Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial) ends her season-opening string of fourteen consecutive wins. The win by the team starts a two-game win streak for Whitewater. Amy Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South)'s win and Jenny Woyahn (Waukesha/Waukesha South)'s win both ended a three-game win streak for their opponent.
The win over Wheaton, a perennially strong Division III team in the upper midwest, will be particularly important to Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings and possible postseason bids (team and individual).
Whitewater defeated North Central College in the second match of the day 9-0.

After this match, Whitewater is now 6-1 overall, keeps the win streak alive with three in a row. With the two wins today, Annie Smith (Algonquin, IL/H.D. Jacobs) upped her record to 12-2 as well as Schaefer's improving to 15-1.
The next match for the women's tennis team will be Tuesday, October 7 at Whitewater against Stevens Point and Concordia with 3:30 and 6:30 start times.
