Blugolds Defeat Whitewater 3-1

UW-Whitewater was defeated by UW-Eau Claire 3-1 Saturday, October 4 in a game played at Eau Claire.  Amy Smith of Eau Claire scored two of their three goals of the afternoon.

Three of the four total goals were scored in the first half. The first goal was by Gina Christenbury of Eau Claire assisted by Liz Kooistra making the score 0-1 at 10:35. Three minutes later at 13:44 Smith scored the second goal upping the score to 0-2, unassisted. The last goal of the first half came at 36:12 by Sara Brown (Lake Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich), assisted by Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West) closing in on the Blugolds with a score of 1-2.

Smith scored her second goal in the second half, assisted by Jessica Millard at 51:27 bringing the final score to 1-3. Smith had a total of four shots with four shots on goal.

The Blugolds had a total of eleven shots to Whitewater's six. Whitewater was shut out in the second half in the shots category.  Each team had six shots on goal total. Goal keeper, Allie Rivard of UWEC had a total of five saves and gave up one goal.

Whitewater is now 5-6 overall and 2-3 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Eau Claire is 11-0-2 overall and 4-0 in the WIAC.

The next game for the women's soccer team will be Saturday, October 11 at 3:00 at Whitewater against UW La Crosse.
