The UW-W women's volleyball team, ranked eleventh in the AVCA, defeated Concordia 3-1 in the first game of the UW-Whitewater invitational. The game scores played out 25-15, 22-25, 25-11, 25-22.

Whitewater jumped out in game one with a quick lead that didn't diminish as the 'Hawks won 25-15.
UW-W ran with the momentum from the first game win to come out to a 7-4 lead but Concordia quickly came back and tied up the game at 13. Whitewater coach Stacy Boudreau was forced to take a time out down 21-24 but the Falcons held on for the win 22-25.
The Warhawks started with a 7-0 run in the third game. The Falcons called timeout down 11-3 but Whitewater went on a 9-0 straight out of the timeout to lengthen the lead to 19-3. As the Warhawks kept pounding the ball they strolled to a game three win 25-11.
Game four started with a small run by Concordia, 3-0, that was quickly surpassed by an 8-4 run from the 'Hawks. After the scores was tied up three times the Falcons called timeout down by two 16-14. The Warhawks fought through Concordia's effort to drain their momentum with timeouts to take game four 25-22.
Caitlin Hogan (New London/New London) was the leader at the net for the 'Hawks pounding down 13 kills. Keri Klotzbuecher (Clintonville/Clintonville) and Liz Benzschawel (Madison/Edgewood) added nine and eight more kills respectively. Two Whitewater players hit double digits in defensive digs, Alyssa Bauer (Naperville, IL/Central) with 21 and Kelly Sorenson with 11. Standing tall at the net Benzschawel and Melissa Zuleger (Little Chute/Little Chute) combined for one solo block and seven assist blocks.
