Warhawks Shutout Yellowjackets

The UW-Whitewater women's soccer team traveled to UW-Superior on Saturday and shutout the Yellowjackets by a score of 4-0. The win marks UW-W's tenth of the season as they are now 10-8 overall. The win also clinches third place in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 5-3 record. UW-Superior falls to 3-14-1 overall this season and 0-8 in the WIAC.

Scoring goals for UW-W were Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West), Megan Schlecht (Mukwonago/Mukwonago), Whitney Clapper (Cedarburg/Cedarburg), and Kayla Viney (Cottage Grove/Monona Grove). Donohoo, the team leader in scoring, scored her thirteenth goal of the season. Schlecht and Clapper each scored their second goal of the season while Viney notched her first.
 
Goalkeeper Mary Scanlin (Waunakee/Waunakee) denied two UW-Superior shots on the way to her first shutout of the season. The Warhawks outshot the Yellowjackets 21-4.
 
UW-W will be back on the field when they open up play in the WIAC tournament on November 1 at 2:00 pm against UW-River Falls at Fiskum Field in Whitewater.
