UW-Whitewater defeated St. Norbert, 9-0, on Saturday at the Wangerin Tennis Courts in Whitewater. The Green Knights drop to 5-6 this season while UW-Whitewater improves to 10-1. The match against St. Norbert was UW-W's second of the day, which happened to be senior day. Earlier on Saturday, the Warhawks defeated UW-La Crosse 8-1.
All three Warhawk seniors competed against the Green Knights and all three won in straight sets.
Jenny Woyahn (Waukesha/Waukesha South),
Kara Amundson (Prairie du Sac/Sauk Prairie) and
Brittany Gering (Greendale/Greendale) have been a part of some of the most successful women's tennis seasons at UW-Whitewater. All three were a part of the 2008 team which was the first team to ever make an NCAA playoff appearance for women's tennis. The three currently boast a 62-28 record as a part of Warhawk tennis in dual meets.
Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial) continued her strong play at the number one singles position with a straight sets victory over Kelly Van Handel to improve her singles record in dual meets to 10-1. Schaefer is 19-1 overall this season.

Schaefer will travel to Mobile, Alabama on October 16 to participate in the ITA Small College National Tournament. The tournament takes the eight winners from the regional ITA tournaments that took place earlier in September. Schaefer will play Julia Browne of Tufts University in the first round.
The Warhawks will compete again on October 18 when they travel to UW-River Falls for a 9:30 am match. Later in the day on October 18 the Warhawks will visit UW-Stout for a 3:30 pm match.
