UW-Whitewater defeated UW-La Crosse 8-1 in their first match on Saturday at the Wangerin Tennis Courts in Whitewater. The Warhawks improve to 9-1 in their dual meets this season and are undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The Eagles drop to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the WIAC.

Jenny Woyahn (Waukesha/Waukesha South), fittingly came back after losing the first set to win her match on senior day. Number one singles player,
Kalla Schaefer (Madison/Madison Memorial), was pushed in the first set to a tie-break, but eventually won that set and the second set.
Annie Smith (Algonquin, IL/H.D. Jacobs), UW-W's number three singles player, had her hands full in the second set against Katie McDonald of UW-L, but won 7-5 to win the match in straight sets.
On the doubles side, Schaefer and
Amy Siemon (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South) had a tough match against their number one doubles counterpart, Carlie Bohrman and Sarah Schoenwaelder, but ultimately won by a score of 9-7. The Warhawks only loss was at the three doubles slot where they dropped the match 9-7.
