UW-Whitewater, ranked third in the D3hoops.com national poll, defeated UW-Platteville 85-63 at Bo Ryan Court in Platteville Wednesday evening.

Platteville's last lead was 4-3 with 18:21 left in the first half. The Warhawks led 25-10 at 9:44 on a three-point play by junior center Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial) , but Platteville scored the final six points of the half to make it 37-31 Whitewater at the intermission.
The Pioneers scored the first two baskets of the second half to pull within 37-35. Whitewater responded with a 17-3 burst, making it 54-38 at 12:52. The Warhawks added on from there to build a thirty point margin twice, at 5:04 and with 3:47 remaining.
Morton and sophomore forward Nicole Bundy (Fredonia/Ozaukee) led the Warhawks with 16 points apiece, with sophomore guard Kelsey Hendrickson (Monroe/Monroe) adding 14. Morton scored fourteen of her points in the frist half. Senior center Lindsey Buechner (Cross Plains/Middleton) led the Warhawks with four assists. Junior guard Lisa Wubben scored sixteen for the Pioneers, eleven coming in the second half. Vanessa Nemitz, a sophomore guard, scored ten in the second half, thirteen overall.
Whitewater out-rebounded the Pioneers 42-30, and limited UW-P to 36% shooting from the field.
UW-Whitewater is 16-1 overall and 7-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Eleven of Whitewater's sixteen wins have been by twenty or more points. UW-Platteville, which has lost three of its last four games, is 9-8 overall and 3-5 in league play.
UW-W will travel to UW-Superior Saturday for a 3:00 start. The next home game for the Warhawks will be Saturday, February 2 when they host UW-Eau Claire in Kachel Gym of Williams Center.
