The seventeenth ranked Warhawks improved their record to 9-2 with an 88-78 victory over North Central College Wednesday, in Kachel Gymnasium.

The Warhawks jumped off to a 21-2 lead over North Central in the first half of play. Senior forward Rob Perry (Milwaukee/Dominican) opened up the game with eight of the first 21 points. Perry finished the game with 23 points, made ten of eleven free throws, and led the team with six rebounds.
Whitewater's largest lead of the game was at 6:05 in the first half with a layup by junior forward Billy Kolinski to make it 36-12. North Central went on a 10-2 run to finish the first half 40-22.
Both teams battled back and forth in the second half with North Central cutting the score to a nine point Whitewater lead at 8:31 with a layup made by forward Josh Corso. At 6:16 left in the game with the score 61-52, Whitewater went on a 10-1 run with junior guard Matt Goodwin (Milwaukee/Rufus King) hitting two three-pointers to increase the Warhawks margin to eighteen points.
Whitewater had four players in double figures Perry with 23, Goodwin with 21, Myles McKay (Milwaukee/Menomonee Falls) with 12, and Josh King (Janesville/Craig) with 10. Leading North Central was guard Reid Barringer making seven three-pointers, all in the second half, with the game high of 28 points. The Cardinals also had two other players in double digits, forward Jeremy Williams contributed 13 points, and forward Matt Rogers with 10.
Whitewater shot 60 percent in the first half, compared to North Central's 25 percent. In the second half, North Central shot nine of fourteen from beyond the arc, compared to Whitewater's five of eleven.
Whitewater will play UW-River Falls Saturday, January 5 at 3:00 in River Falls. Whitewater's next home match up will be against UW-Stout January 19 at 5:00.
