UW-Whitewater ran its record to 15-1 behind record-setting three point shooting, defeating UW-Stout 93-72 in Kachel Gym in Williams Center Saturday afternoon.

UW-W, ranked fourth and sixth in the two polls of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III teams, made 11-16 three point shots. Eleven threes made equals the school mark, accomplished five times previously (including twice earlier this season). The Warhawks' three point percentage of .688 is fourth best in the school record book. Sophomore guard Kelsey Hendrickson (Monroe/Monroe) made 4-5 from beyond the arc, tying the sixth best individual percentage (minimum five attempts) in a game.
Stout built a seven point margin twice in the first half, the last coming at 10:32, 22-15, and retained the lead until 6:35 when Rachel Woolever (Colfax/Colfax) hit a three-pointer to put UW-W up 30-28. Stout came back to go in front 34-33 on a pair of Joanna Bird free throws, but that would be the last time the Blue Devils were in front. UW-W junior center Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial) scored ten points in less than three minutes to help UW-W lead 44-40 at the half.
UW-W had a 51-46 lead at 16:46, but a 7-0 run gave Whitewater its first double digit lead at 58-46. UW-Stout did not get the game back into single digits the rest of the way.
Hendrickson led both teams with 21 points and a game-high five assists. Morton contributed 16 points, senior center Lindsey Buechner (Cross Plains/Middleton) a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore center Dana Thompson (Belleville/Belleville) added ten points. Whitewater blocked a season-high eight shots, including two each by Hendrickson, Buechner and Meghan Schmidt (Port Washington/Port Washington).
Bird led UW-Stout with 13 points, eleven coming in the first half. Lindsey Geissler and Julia Hirssig added 11 and 10, respectively. Bird also led the Blue Devils with four assists, and Hirssig tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
UW-W is 15-1 overall and 6-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-Stout is 10-6 overall and 4-3 in league play.
Whitewater will play at UW-Platteville Wednesday. The next home game for the Warhawks will be Saturday, February 2 at 3:00, with UW-Eau Claire visiting Kachel Gym in Williams Center.
