UW-Whitewater defeated Carroll College 1-0 in a women's soccer game played Wednesday afternoon at Fiskum Field in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

After playing a scoreless first half, Melanie Billinghurst (Lake Mills/Lake Mills) (freshman, Lake Mills) netted the game winner with an assist by Amy Wood (Janesville/Craig) (junior, Janesville/Craig).

The Warhawks limited the Pioneers to three shots on goal, while UW-W had eleven shots. Whitewater's Amy Bailey (Whitefish Bay/Whitefish Bay) (freshman, Whitefish Bay) recorded her first collegiate shutout.

Whitewater and Carroll are both 2-1-0 this season.

UW-W will play at home twice this weekend, hosting Finlandia University Saturday and Edgewood College Sunday, with both matches starting at 12:00 at Fiskum Field.
