Warhawks Outmatched by St. Norbert, Lose 5-2

Box Score

Although two first half goals kept the Warhawks in the game, they were unable to fight back in the second half of their match on Sunday when they lost to St. Norbert, 5-2 in DePere.

Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West) (sophomore, Wauwatosa/West) scored two goals within a minute of each other to bring the Warhawks within one of the Green Knights, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Warhawks from dropping their fourth straight.

St. Norbert scored their first goal of the game in the ninth minute and would never relinquish their lead.  The Green Knights put up two more goals before the Warhawks could get on the board in the twenty-fourth minute.  Donohoo's first goal came on an assist by Jenna Samp (Palatine, IL/Palatine) (freshman, Palatine, Ill.).  Her second goal, just twenty-seven seconds later, came on an assist by Amy Wood (Janesville/Craig) (junior, Janesville/Craig).  The two goals were Donohoo's seventh and eighth of the season.

The second half would provide a couple of insurance goals for St. Norbert as they would score just five minutes into the half and again in the sixty-eight minute.  Five different players recorded a goal for the Green Knights and goalkeeper Mallory Ford made four saves.

Whitewater (6-6-1) outshot St. Norbert in the match 19-12, but it wasn't enough to over come the Green Knights who are now 7-3 overall.

The women will host MSOE at Fiskum Field on Tuesday, October 2, at 3 pm.  Admission to the game is free for all spectators.
