UW-W, ranked third in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association top 25 poll, finished up the UW-Whitewater Invitational II by defeating Concordia (30-21, 30-17, 30-23) on Saturday at the Williams Center in Whitewater.
Whitewater's second match of the day was against the Concordia Falcons and it resulted in another win. Sophomore libero Kristina Conlin (Williams Bay/Williams Bay) (Willaims Bay) set the tone of the game by starting the opening game with an ace. The Warhawks controlled the game and went on to a victory in game one.
In game two, the Warhawks jumped out to an early 12-2 lead and never looked back as they wrapped up the victory. In game three, the Warhawks found themselves down 8-11 after numerous rallys. A 6-0 run put the Warhawks atop once again 14-11 and they were able to control the game the remainder of the game for a 30-23 victory.
Leading the way for the Warhawks was Kelly Annen (Madison/West) (junior, Madison/West) with twenty-nine assists, and eight kills. Both Abby Schultz (Appleton/Kimberly) (senior, Appleton/Kimberly), and Kelly Sorensen (Madison/Memorial) (sophomore, Madison/Memorial) had ten digs each.
