Whitewater and River Falls End in a Tie

UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls tied 1-1 Saturday afternoon in River Falls, Wisconsin.

Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West) (sophomore, Wauwatosa/West) put the ball in the net from 25 feet out at 22:45 to give UW-W the lead.  The teams went in to intermission tied.  At 57:22 Anna Gutknecht scored for the Falcons on a scramble in front of the goal to tie the game, 1-1.  Neither team could break the tie through two overtimes.

Whitewater goalie Amy Bailey (Whitefish Bay/Whitefish Bay) (fr, Whitefish Bay) made 13 saves, and Falcon goalie Emily Stieler stopped five shots. 

Whitewater had 17 shots in the game, but none in the first overtime and one in the second extra period.  River Falls had nine in regulation, and five more in each overtime period.  River Falls had eight corner kicks, Whitewater three.  River Falls had 21 fouls to 15 for the Warhawks.

UW-W is 6-2-1 overall, 1-1-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  UW-RF is 1-5-1, and 0-1-1 in conference play.

UW-Whitewater will play at the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota Sunday, September 23. The Warhawks? next home game will be against UW-Eau Claire Saturday, September 29 at 1:00 on Fiskum Field.
