The UW-Whitewater women's tennis team split a pair of matches Saturday, defeating Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival UW-River Falls 7-2 and losing to Division I UW-Milwaukee 8-1 on the Wangerin Courts in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
None of the individual matches in the River Falls match went to a third set. Warhawks that won in both singles and doubles play included Tiffany Dawson (Cary, IL/Cary Grove) (senior, Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) at one doubles and five singles, Jesse Farrar (senior, Rock Island, Ill.) at two singles and two doubles, and Lauren Fahl (Brookfield/Brookfield Central) (freshman, Brookfield/Central) at four singles and two doubles.
Fahl, playing four singles again, was Whitewater lone winner in the match against UW-Milwaukee, defeating Ashley Schoneman 6-3, 6-2 to raise her record to 7-1 this season. Dawson, who did not play in the Milwaukee match, is 4-0 in singles play this fall.
UW-W is 4-2 in dual meets, including a 4-1 mark versus Division III opponents. The River Falls match was the first conference match of the fall for UW-W.
UW-Whitewater will particpate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Friday-Sunday, September 21-23, at Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota.
