UW-Whitewater gave up its first goal in four matches and that lone tally proved to be the difference as UW-Stevens Point defeated the Warhawks 1-0 in Stevens Point Saturday afternoon.
Amanda Prawat scored the game's only goal, and her fifth of the season, from ten yards out at 26:10, assisted by Kaylee Weiss.
UW-Stevens Point had fifteen shots, twelve in the first half. Nine Pointer shots were on goal. Whitewater totaled three shots, just one on goal. Whitewater goalie Amy Bailey (Whitefish Bay/Whitefish Bay) was credited with eight saves.
Whitewater had 7 fouls and four offsides, Stevens Point had 11 fouls and 1 offside.
UW-W is 4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-SP is 3-2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Whitewater is beginning a string of six consecutive road games. The Warhawks will play at Lakeland College in Howards Grove, Wisconsin Sunday. The next home match for the Warhawks will be Saturday, September 29 at 1:00, with UW-Eau Claire visiting Fiskum Field.
