Warhawks Defeat Illinois Wesleyan in Last Minutes

The UW-Whitewater men's soccer team edged out Illinois Wesleyan University 2-0 in a match played in Bloomington, Illinois Wednesday night.

The first 45 minutes of the game remained scoreless. After halftime, at 83:00, Kyle Bast (Hartland/Arrowhead) (jr, Hartland/ Arrowhead) scored the winning goal. Four minutes later (87:00), Bast scored once again, bringing the final score to 2-0. The goal keeper for Wesleyan, Frankie Gorg (fr, Mt. Prospect, Ill./John Hersey HS) had six saves throughout the game.

By the end of the night, Whitewater had 14 shots, while holding Wesleyan to 6. Whitewater goal keeper, E.J Sesselmann (senior, Green Bay/Notre Dame) earned his fourth shut out for the season and Bast now has three goals this season.

The Warhawks are now 4-1 and will play at Lakeland College in Howards Grove on Sunday, September 16 with a 1:30 start time.
