Jim  Zebrowski named assistant football coach

Jim Zebrowski, Lakeland College head football coach and assistant athletic director, is the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's new assistant football coach and offensive coordinator.

"Our athletic department finished the academic year with a huge bang by landing Jim Zebrowski as its assistant coach in football," UW-Whitewater Athletic Director Paul Plinske said. "His recent head coaching background combined with his experiences in Division III football will make an immediate impact on our program. We couldn't be more excited than we are now as we prepare for the upcoming season with Jim on board."

Zebrowski comes to the Warhawk football program with more than 15 years of high school and college football coaching experience. Under his direction, he led Lakeland College to a combined 2003-2006 team record of 28-12, back-to-back Illini-Badger Football Conference (IBFC) championships and the school's first playoff berth in 2005.

"Jim Zebrowski has proven himself as a head coach and offensive coordinator on the collegiate level," Warhawk head football coach Lance Leipold said. "His affiliation with programs like I-AA Southern Illinois and his alma mater Mount Union will be an asset to our program. He has great energy and passion for the game and an excellent offensive mind. We are excited to have Jim part of Warhawk football and leading our offensive unit."

Named IBFC Coach of the Year twice (2004 and 2005), Zebrowski was also named the 2005 Wisconsin Private School Coach of the Year and American Football Monthly's Top 80 Hottest Coaches in 2005. Currently, Zebrowski is IBFC president and is a member of the NCAA North Region Football Committee, the American Football Coaches Association and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association.

"It's a great opportunity to be able to go to a school that's been so successful," Zebrowski said. "I'm very excited to work with Coach Leipold and his staff and to be part of an offense that's been very successful."

In addition to his role as assistant football coach and offensive coordinator, Zebrowski will teach courses in health, physical education, recreation and coaching as well as supervise student teachers in curriculum and instruction in the College of Education.
