UW-Whitewater, ranked sixth in the D3hoops.com national poll, improves its mark on the season with a win over UW-Superior 92-85 Saturday night at Kachel Gym in Whitewater.

The Warhawks led at half with a slim three point lead of 46-43. In the second half Superior started with a 8-2 run to take the lead 51-48 with 17:10 left in the game on a jumper by freshman Dan Culy. Whitewater battled back and forth with Superior, but with 11 minutes left in the game the Warhawks went on a 20-10 run to improve the score to 85-71 with 2:48 left in the game. Superior came back with a run of their own scoring 12 points to Whitewater's seven, but it was not enough to keep the Warhawks down making the final score 92-85.
Junior forward Rob Perry (Milwaukee/Dominican) (Milwaukee/Dominican) led the way for the Warhawks with a double-double night on 24 points and 11 rebounds. Junior guard Matt Goodwin (Milwaukee/Rufus King) (Milwaukee/Rufus King) contributed 21 points as did junior Myles McKay (Milwaukee/Menomonee Falls) (Milwaukee/Menomonee Falls) with 16 points. For the Yellowjackets, Culy led his team with 25 points hitting 5 shots from beyond the arc. Yellowjackets freshman Jake Smith contributed 21 points.
The Warhawks improve their overall record to 5-1 and are now 2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-Superior falls to an overall record of 1-5 and 0-2 in the WIAC.
The Warhawks next game is December 16th when they travel to Olivet, Michigan for a two o'clock showdown with Olivet College.
