UW-W Fourth in Jersey Holiday Jamboree

UW-W advanced to the championship round of the Holiday Jamboree in Teaneck, New Jersey December 27-29, finishing fourth in the fourteen team field.  Whitney Kueltzo (Homer Glen, IL/Lockport Township), with a 193.8 average, placed fourth in the field to lead the Warhawks.

Whitewater rolled through the qualifying rounds Thursday and Friday totaling 9,011 pins, good for fourth place and a berth in the championship rounds Saturday.  Whitewater matched up with New Jersey City University, the top seed, and lost 4-3 in a best of seven Baker playoff.  The Warhawks then fell to the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore 4-3 in a Baker playoff for third place.  Host Fairleigh Dickinson University defeated New Jersey City for the tournament title.

Kueltzo rolled a 237 in the opening round Thursday, the fourth highest game by a Warhawk this season.  Her performance led UW-W to a 985 game, second best by the team this season. 

UW-W's Kim Ashby (Loves Park, IL/Harlem) finished thirteenth with a 187.4 average, with a high game o f 233, her best game of the season.  Ashby and Kueltzo also compiled the best series of the season, with Ashby totaling 642 pins in three games Thursday, and Kueltzo knocking down 615.

Vicki Spratford of New Jersey City was the top individual in the tourney, averaging 219.3 for the tourney, second place Kristina Figueiredo of NJCU rolled the top game in the tournament, a 259 Friday.

UW-W has a month of practice before its next match, a dual with Fontbonne (MO) January 31in Saint Louis, followed by a tournament at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas February 1-2.
