UW-Whitewater upped its record to 4-0 with a 62-53 victory over the University of Chicago, at Chicago's Ratner Athletics Center Wednesday night.

The Warhawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead early in the game, but Chicago evened the score as the teams battled early in the game. With 5:53 left in the first half, Whitewater took the lead for good on a layup by Dana Thompson (Belleville/Belleville), eventually building a 13 point lead with 1:24 left in the first half on another Thompson layup.
UW-Whitewater maintained its lead the entire half, building a 54-42 lead with 5:14 left in the game on a Trisha Thill (Belgium/Ozaukee) three point basket. Chicago then went on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 54-51 with 2:23 remaining in the game. Whitewater answered by outscoring Chicago 8-2 the rest of the way. All eight of Whitewater's points came on free throws.
Whitwater was lead in scoring by Kelsey Hendrickson (Monroe/Monroe)'s game high 15 points. Meghan Schmidt (Port Washington/Port Washington) chipped in 12 points as well. Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial) lead the Warhawks with 8 rebounds, and Thill dished out 5 assists to lead both teams. Chicago's Molly Hackney had 12 points and Nicaya Rapier had 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Whitewater was 12-19 from the free throw line and Chicago was only 3-3 from the free throw line.
UW-Whitwater is ranked tenth or fifteenth in the two national Division III polls, and the Univestiy of Chicago, now 4-1, is ranked eighteenth in both.
UW-Whitewater will open the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conferenct season at 3:00 hosting UW-Stevens Point in Kachel Gym in the Williams Center. UW-Stevens Point is ranked sixteenth and twentith in both polls respectively.
