UW-Whitewater upped its record to 3-0 with an 85-48 win over Cornell College (IA) Sunday afternoon in the Kachel Gym in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Whitewater led 41-22 at the half and never led by less than twenty points in the second half. UW-W's largest lead of the game, 39, came at 85-46 with 1:55 left in the game.
Senior center Lindsey Buechner (Cross Plains/Middleton), with 17 points, led four Warhawks in double figures. Tiffany Morton (Beloit/Memorial), a junior post player, added 12, Dana Thompson (Belleville/Belleville), a sophomore post player, contributed 11, and senior guard Trisha Thill (Belgium/Ozaukee) scored 10.
Forward Alicia West led Cornell with 13 points, with guard Charlotte Milas scoring 11.
UW-W outrebounded Cornell 50-36, led by Morton's game-high ten rebounds. The Warhawks also shot 50% from the field in the game while limiting CC to 30%. Whitewater's defense also contributed five blocked shots, four by Morton. Whitewater's Meghan Schmidt (Port Washington/Port Washington), a junior forward, led both teams with five assists.
Cornell is 0-2 this season.
UW-Whitewater, ranked eighteenth in the pre-season poll of NCAA III teams, will play at the University of Chicago Wednesday. The Warhawks will open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday, December 1 at 5:00, hosting UW-Stevens Point at 3:00 Saturday, December 1 in Kachel Gym.
