UW-Whitewater lost to UW-Stevens Point 3-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semi-finals Friday afternoon in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

UW-W, seeded third in the tournament, finished the year 12-8-1.  The Warhawks advanced to the semis with a 3-0 win over UW-Stout Tuesday.  UW-Stevens Point, the number two seed in the tournament, is 15-3-1.  The Pointers will play top-seeded, and 2007 league champion, UW-Eau Claire Saturday at 1:00 for the WIAC championship.  The Blugolds, 18-2-1, defeated UW-La Crosse 5-1 in a semi-final earlier Friday.  The winner of the WIAC Tournament receives the league's automatic berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Championship Tournament.

UW-SP got on top quickly, scoring just forty-one seconds in to the game against Whitewater to put the Pointer's up 1-0 on an unassisted goal by Amanda Prawat.  Prawat made it 2-0 at 32:41, with an assist from Kaylee Weise, to make it 2-0 Point.  It was Prawat's twenty-fourth goal of the season.

Whitewater cut the lead in half at 41:58, when a Warhawk corner kick deflected off a Pointer defender and Jenna Samp (Palatine, IL/Palatine) (fr, Palatine, IL) headed the ball in to the net for her second goal of the season.

Weise was in on the scoring again at 62:08, this time scoring unassisted, to make it 3-1 Stevens Point.

Whitewater cut the margin back to one, 3-2, on Holly U'ren (fr, Mount Horeb) scored unassisted at 89:00.

Whitewater had twelve shots, Stevens Point ten, and both teams had six corner kicks.  The Pointers comitted thirteen fouls, Whitewater eleven.

Amy Bailey (Whitefish Bay/Whitefish Bay) (fr, Whitefish Bay) was in the net for UW-W, making four saves.  Meredith DeCaluwe stopped four shots for the Pointers.  Bailey was credited with 89 saves this season, seventh best total in the UW-W record book.

The twelve wins by the Warhawks this season is the second highest total in school history.  Only the 2000 team, with a 13-5-2 record, recorded more victories.

The 2007 edition of the Warhawks ended up as the third highest scoring team in school history, totaling 50 goals.  On the other hand, this year's team also ranks third all-time in (fewest) goals allowed, giving up just 23.  Junior forward Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West) (Wauwatosa/West) scored twelve goals, seventh in the school season record book, and Becky Cera (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa West) (so, Wauwatosa/West) totaled eight assists, second on the record list.
