UW-W 2-0 After Win Over MSOE

UW-Whitewater defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 87-56 Saturday evening in the championship match of the Tip-Off Tournament in the Kachel Gym of Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

Whitewater never trailed in the game, and the score was never tied.  With UW-W ahead 28-20 with 6:01 left in the first half, the Warhawks went on a 16-0 run to build a 44-20 halftime lead.  The closest the Engineers came in the second half was 54-31 at 14:56.  Whitewater built 38 point leads twice in the second half.

Warhawks head coach Pat Miller went down the length of his bench, inserting seventeen players in to the game, with twelve entering the scoring column. 

Junior guard Matt Goodwin (Milwaukee/Rufus King) had 15 points for the Warhawks, with sophomore guard Kevin Koski (Jefferson/Jefferson) and junior Rob Perry (Milwaukee/Dominican) adding 11 each.  Perry also contributed a team best four assists and two steals.  For MSOE Jamel Sabree had 13 points and Scott Murphy 12.

Whitewater shot 52% from the field, MSOE 37%.  Whitewater got the better of MSOE in the turnover category, 13 for the Warhawks and 21 for the Engineers. 

UW-W, 2-0, will travel to Waukesha to face Carroll College Tuesday.  The next home contest for the Warhawks will be their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener, hosting UW-Stevens Point Saturday, December 1 at 5:00.
