Warhawks Win Streak Hits Ten

UW-Whitewater raised its record 19-2 overall and 5-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 3-0 (30-13, 30-19, 30-15) win over UW-Superior in the Williams Center volleyball arena Saturday afternoon.
 
UW-Whitewater is ranked third in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III national poll. UW-Superior is 13-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
 
Whitewater hit .287 in the match, the third best of the season for UW-W. UW-Superior hit minus 0.32.
 
The Warhawks used all sixteen of its players in the match. Every player recorded at least one kill or dig. Kelly Annen (Madison/West) (jr, Madison/West) led UW-W with eight kills, her personal season high. A season high six players recorded an assist, led by Alyse Karls (Dane/Lodi) (so, Lodi) with 28. Karls also led the team with 11 digs. 
 
Alicia Fairchild (sr, Bemidji, MN) led the Yellowjackets with ten assists and ten digs. Samantha Blake (so, Blaine, MN) contributed 12 digs, and Kelsey Lesny (so, Bloomer) had a team high five kills.
 
UW-Whitewater will play in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational Friday and Saturday, October 12-13. The Warhawks will face Juniata College (PA), number one in the national poll, Friday at 5:00 and tenth-ranked Carthage College at 7:15. Saturday at 10:00 UW-W will face UW-La Crosse in a non-conference match, then conclude the tournament with pool play at 12:15. Whitewater lost to Juniata 3-0 in a tournament in Saint Louis in mid-September, and the Warhawks topped UW-La Crosse in their WIAC match 3-1 September 19 in Whitewater.
 
A reminder that the Tuesday, October 19 match versus Beloit College, which was to be played in Whitewater, has been cancelled.
