Warhawks Win Eighth Straight

Third ranked UW-Whitewater upped its record to 17-2 overall and 3-0 in the WIAC with a 3-1 (30-21, 30-20, 31-33, 30-12) win at UW-Stevens Point Wednesday night.
 

 

Abby Schultz (Appleton/Kimberly) (sr, Appleton/Kimberly) led UW-W with 18 kills and a .485 hitting percentage.  Sarah Theis (Lodi/Lodi) (sr, Lodi) and Kelly Sorenson (so, Madison/Memorial) contributed 15 kills each.  Kristina Conlin (Williams Bay/Williams Bay) (so, Williams Bay) led both teams with 24 digs, and Kate Lazotte (Stoughton/Stoughton) (sr, Stoughton) had a game high 50 assists.  The Pointers were led by Shelly Maus (sr, Green Bay/Southwest), with 13 kills, and Jill Wittmann's (sr, Kewauskum) 16 digs and 30 assists.

 

Whitewater hit .295 in the match, Stevens Point hit .099.  The .295 mark is the Warhawks' second best this season, only following a .371 mark in the season opening win over New York-Brockport August 31.

 

UW-Whitewater has won eight consecutive matches.  UW-Stevens Point is 13-6 overall and 2-1 in league play.

 

UW-W will host UW-Eau Claire Friday at 7:00 and UW-Superior Saturday at noon, with both matches in the Williams Center volleyball arena.  Both are part of UW-Whitewater's annual Family Weekend celebration, and Friday's contest is also a Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
