The Warhawks continued their thirteen game unbeaten streak with a 2-2 tie against UW-Superior in double overtime Saturday, October 20 at Fiskum Field. The Warhawks, ranked eighteenth in the most recent D3Kicks.com national poll, are now 13-1-2 and the Yellowjackets dropped to 7-6-2.
Jason Blocker (Lauderdale Lake, FL/Anderson) (sr, Lauderdale Lakes, FL/Boyd Anderson) was the first to score just seven minutes in to the game. Blocker's goal came off of an assist from Steve Nashleanas (Brookfield/East) (fr, Brookfield/East).
Blocker then scored the Warhawks final goal of the game. Blocker's goals were his third and fourth of the season.
The Yellowjackets battled back from behind scoring both of their goals in the second period, just two minutes apart at the seventy-eight minute mark and the eighty minute mark.
The game was a battle to the finish in double overtime, with Superior committing 5 penalties, and the Warhawks just one. Whitewater took fourteen shots in the game, while Superior only took seven.
The Warhawks play again on Sunday, October 21, when they host Concordia University (Moorehead, Minn.) for a 3:00 pm match. Admission to the game is free.
