Women's Soccer Tops Stout

UW-Whitewater defeated UW-Stout 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Alyssa Palmer (Mukwonago/Kettle Moraine) (sr, Mukwonago/Kettle Moraine) scored the first goal of the game, also her first of the season, with an assist from Mary Donohoo (Wauwatosa/West) (so, Wauwatosa/West), to open the scoring at 23:38.  Just four minutes later, at 27:47, the Blue Devils knotted the game on a goal by Rachel Herzog, assisted by Katie Ness.

Allison Davis (Hartford/Hartford) (fr, Hartford) scored her second goal of the season for UW-W, and her first game-winner, at 37:37 off an assist from Sarah Skoug (Wales/Kettle Moraine) (sr, Wales/Kettle Moraine) for the final score in the game.

UW-W goalie Amy Bailey (Whitefish Bay/Whitefish Bay) (fr, Whitefish Bay) made four saves for the Wahawks.  Jessica Halvorson also made four for UW-Stout. 

Whitewater took eight shots, Stout seven; Stout had three corner kicks to two for UW-W, and both teams had fifteen fouls.

UW-W is 9-6-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  Stout is 4-10-0, and 2-4-0 in league play.

Whitewater will host UW-Platteville Wednesday, October 17 at 3:00 at Fiskum Field on the north end of the UW-W campus.  There is no admission charge.
