UW-Whitewater picked up a pair of victories, defeating UW-La Crosse and Lakeland College Saturday in the second day of play at the Oshkosh Invitational in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

UW-W defeated UW-L 3-1 (30-27, 25-30, 30-21, 30-25).  Kelly Sorensen (Madison/Memorial) (so, Madison/Memorial) led UW-W with 18 kills, also adding 15 digs.  Abby Schultz (Appleton/Kimberly) (sr, Appleton/Kimberly) had 16 kills and another 15 digs.  Carley Polk (Dousman/Mukwonago) (sr, Dousman/Mukwonago) contributed seven blocks, and Kate Lazotte (Stoughton/Stoughton) (sr, Stoughton) passed for 58 assists.

Lakeland extended Whitewater to five games Saturday afternoon, with Whitewater coming back from a  2-0 deficit in games to win 26-30, 22-30, 30-22, 30-13, 15-6.  Polk's team season high 24 kills, plus a .442 hitting percentage, led the way.  Lazotte dished out 71 assists, a season high as well as the third highest match total in school history.  Lazotte also led UW-W with 19 digs, while Sara Theis (sr, Lodi) had eight blocks (four solo).  Whitewater hit .255 in the match.

UW-W, ranked third in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll, is 21-4.  The win over UW-L, although not a conference match, is important because UW-L came in to the match ranked nineteenth in the AVCA poll.   The Warhawks also beat UW-L 3-1 September 19 in Whitewater in the teams' WIAC matchup.

Whitewater will host UW-Stout Friday, October 19 at 7:00 and UW-River Falls at noon Saturday, October 20.  Both matches will be played in the Williams Center volleyball arena on campus.
