Shinhoster won the 184-pound bracket in impressive fashion over the weekend at the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational, posting a 5-0 record with two pins, one technical fall and two major decisions to help the No. 11 Warhawks to a sixth-place finish at the 29-team tournament. Shinhoster, ranked fifth in the nation by D3wrestle.com and the National Wrestling Coaches Association, pinned Hunter Beaudet of Elizabethtown in the first period, then defeated Gavin Layman of Ohio Northern by 10-2 major decision. He pinned Chase Melton of UW-Eau Claire in the first period in the quarterfinal, then punched his ticket to the title match with a technical fall against Cortland's Brian Torres. In the final, he topped third-ranked Antonio McCloud of Mount St. Joseph by 9-0 major decision. Shinhoster improved his record to 21-2 on the year.
