Mertins led the No. 23 Warhawks in traditional scoring and helped the team place sixth overall at the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesboro, Ark. Her performance helped UW-Whitewater knock off four nationally-ranked opponents, including No. 1 McKendree, No. 8 Sam Houston State (twice) and No. 22 Central Missouri. Mertins totaled 1,301 pins in six traditional games, good for ninth place out of 66 bowlers and a 216.83 average. She finished the weekend with a 90 percent fill percentage, a 48 percent strike percentage and a 94 percent single-pin conversion rate (31-of-33).
