MILWAUKEE — UW-Whitewater defeated Alverno College with a dominant 12-0 win on Saturday afternoon. The Warhawks finished with a 57-0 advantage in shots, including 34 shots on goal, and scored six times in each half.
Brooklynn Carlson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central) also scored her first collegiate hat trick in the win.
UWW put together a six-goal first half and took a 6-0 lead into halftime, pairing early finishing with steady pressure across the opening 45 minutes.
Jasmine Wilson (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) opened the scoring at 1:59 off
Ryan Kadlec's (Lakemoor, Ill./Grant Community) assist, marking Wilson's first goal of the season. Kadlec's assist was also her first of the season.
Genevieve Simkowski (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) made it 2-0 at 4:23 from
Rachel Cvikel (Franklin, Wis./Saint Thomas More) after UWW had already forced an early save and earned its first corner kick. The visitors kept the pressure on with multiple corners and shots, including saved attempts by
Brooklynn Carlson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central),
Karina Osborn (Arena, Wis./River Valley),
Abby LaMere (Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame) and
Kalee Fricke (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) before
Jenna Laidlaw (Aberdeen, Scotland/Aberdeen Grammar) scored at 16:49 with assists from
Amelia Burns (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) and Carlson. Laidlaw's goal put her at five on the season.
Carlson added goals at 22:32 and 25:22, with Fricke, Laidlaw and Burns contributing assists on those finishes. This performance by Carlson not only marked her first hat trick of the season but also helped her surpass the 10 points milestone on the season, reaching a total of 13.
UWW continued to generate chances late in the half before
Brinley Dunsirn (Appleton, Wis./North) scored from a
Lilli Rick (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) corner at 44:22 to close the first-half scoring. It was Rick's first assist of the season.
In the second half, UWW scored six times and finished a 12-0 win over the Inferno. LaMere scored at 49:09 off assists from
Chloe Bolla (Rogers, Minn./Rogers) and
Rowan Severson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb), and Bolla followed at 52:06 from Severson to push the lead to 8-0. Bolla's goal was her first of the season. With Severson's two assist in the short stretch, she reached five assists on the season.
UWW kept the pressure on with four corner kicks between 51:41 and 56:02, had shots by Bolla,
Lily Klopfenstein (Morton, Ill./Morton),
Emily Taylor (Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Springs) and Burns saved by the Inferno keeper Hannah Wester.
Carlson finished her hat trick off an
Aria Patel (Naperville, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) assist at 63:58. After more chances through the 70th-minute,
Sophie Beltz (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/George Washington) scored at 81:21, her first goal of the season.
Sofie Asibinac (Green Bay, Wis./Homeschool) finished a Dunsirn assist at 83:15, marking Asibinac's first goal and assist of the season.
Veda Gisi (Le Claire, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) scored from Asibinac at 87:29 before UWW closed out the final margin, which was also Gisi's first goal of the season.
Carlson recorded a hat trick and added an assist, finishing with seven points and a team-high eight shots. Wilson scored the first goal and game-winner on her only shot. Burns tallied two assists and put three of her four shots on goal. Dunsirn added a goal and an assist while taking five shots.
The Warhawks return to Fiskum Field on Wednesday, September 30th for a doubleheader with the men's program. The women will compete against Loras College at 4:30 PM followed by the men's game against the Duhawks.
