WHITEWATER, WI — The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team picked up their 5th win of the season on Thursday at Fiskum Field, collecting a 3-0 win over North Park University. The Warhawks held a 30-6 advantage in shots and a 20-4 edge in shots on goal while recording the shutout. This was UW-Whitewater's fifth shutout of the season, reaching five wins on the 2026 season
The Warhawks built a 2-0 first-half advantage earlier with two goals withing the first 15-minutes.
Lilli Rick (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) scored the first at 6:14 off assists from
Rowan Severson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) and
Rachel Cvikel (Franklin, Wis./Saint Thomas More) before Cvikel added an unassisted goal at 12:14. This marked Cvikel's first goal & first assist of the season.
The Vikings answered with three corner kicks between 8:08 and 19:49, but UW-Whitewater kept the visitors off the board and continued to create chances, including
Jasmine Wilson's (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) shot wide in the 19th minute.
UW-Whitewater then created sustained pressure from 22:29 to 31:55, putting together eight shots in that span, including saved attempts from Wilson,
Emily Taylor (Fond du Lac, Wis./St. Mary's Springs),
Brooklynn Carlson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central),
Ryan Kadlec (Lakemoor, Ill./Grant Community) and
Brinley Dunsirn (Appleton, Wis./North).
Kara Smith (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield South) made a save on Astrid Palmblad's 32:15 shot, and UW-Whitewater added a corner and a
Karina Osborn (Arena, Wis./River Valley) shot on goal during a physical closing stretch to take the 2-0 lead into halftime.
To start the second half, Smith handled the Vikings' immediate second-half push with saves on Amara Olivas and Sofia Svensson in the opening two minutes before a Vikings corner.
UW-Whitewater answered from 50:12 to 57:40 with four shots and a corner, including two
Genevieve Simkowski (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) attempts and shots from Dehne and Severson. After the Vikings forced another Smith save and a corner near the 65th minute, UW-Whitewater generated three more shots through Dunsirn's saved attempt at 72:25, then recorded five shots and two corners from 76:07 to 85:16 around the final goal from
Leah Dehne (Waterford, Wis./Waterford).
Leah Dehne (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) scored the final touch of the game in the 84th minute off
Jenna Laidlaw's (Aberdeen, Scotland/Aberdeen Grammar) assist. With the assist, Laidlaw reached 10 points on the season with 4 goals & 2 assists.
The North Park keeper, Makenna Harvey, saved late attempts by Kadlec, Laidlaw, Dehne, Rick and Laidlaw as UW-Whitewater kept creating chances through the final whistle. Harvey finished the game with 17 saves.
In the Warhawks' net,
Kara Smith (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield South) earned the complete game shut-out making four saves over her 90 minutes in net.
The women's soccer team will be back in action on Monday, September 21st to face Carroll University. The game kicks off at 4:30 PM as the team recognizes Fairhaven Senior Services during the game.
