Warhawks Fall to UWRF in WIAC Opening Round

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team fell to UW-River Falls in the opening game of the 2026 WIAC Tournament.

UW-River Falls jumped out to an early lead with a lead-off home run on the first pitch. The Falcons added another run in the second inning to take an early 2-0.

Andy Thies (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles) got the Warhawks on the board, hitting a two-run homer in the third inning to tie the game up at 2-2.

Five more unanswered runs went up on the board for the Falcons, but another two-run shot for the Warhawks cut the lead to 7-4. Evan Olson (Kimberly, Wis./Kimberly) sent his shot over the left field wall in the 6th inning.

The Falcons answered back with a five-run 7th inning, taking a 12-4 lead. Another run in the 8th gave the Warhawks the 13-4 loss in the first game.

Olson & Thies both had two hits for the Warhawks, tallying the four RBIs on their two homers.

The Warhawks will face the #3-seed UW-Eau Claire in the first game tomorrow, on the second day of the WIAC Tournament. First pitch is set for 10 AM.
