Warhawks Reclaim Du-Hawk Cup with win over Loras

WHITEWATER, WI — The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater reclaimed the Du-Hawk cup with a 2-0 victory over Loras 2-0 on Wednesday night. After the UWW women's program gave the Duhawk women their first loss of the season (Read More), the men capped off the night with another shutout win.

The Warhawks generated the first half's early pressure with a Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) shot, a corner kick and a Liam Treacy (Frankfurt, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) attempt saved by Duhawks goalkeeper Alexander Drexler. UW-Whitewater kept attacking after the goal, forcing another Drexler save on Aidian Martin's (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) shot and adding looks from Chrisman and Lorin Baettig (Gettnau, Switzerland/Kantonsschule Willisau).

Luke Konrad (Buxtehude, Germany/Buxtehude Sued) was the one to put UW-Whitewater in front in the 17th minute, with Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) and Mason Diercks (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) credited on the goal that made it 1-0. The Duhawks tested Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) multiple times later in the half, but Waite made four saves to help UW-Whitewater take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Warhawks controlled the second half by creating pressure after the break with shots from Kian Delaney (Oak Forest, Ill./Victor J Andrew), Martin and Saul, plus a corner kick, while Martin's and Saul's attempts were saved. The Duhawks answered with a stretch of corners and shots from the 61st through 71st minutes, but UW-Whitewater kept the score at 1-0 before generating another attacking spell that included three shots and a corner from the 70th through 79th minutes.

UW-Whitewater was able to extend their lead with a goal from Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) in the 80th minute off a Saul assist, moving UW-Whitewater from a 1-0 lead to a 2-0 advantage in the second half. Chrisman reached a total of 11 points this season, surpassing the 10-point milestone with the two point from the goal in the game.

After Chrisman's goal, UW-Whitewater handled two Duhawks corners and Waite saved a shot in the 88th minute, closing out the half and a 2-0 win.

Konrad scored the game-winning goal on his lone shot. Saul recorded assists on both goals. Waite made five saves over 90 minutes and did not allow a goal.

The Warhawks head out on the road for their second Cup game in a row, facing Wartburg in the 2026 Warhawk/Knight Cup. The game is set for Friday, October 2nd at 7 PM.
