The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team put on another offensive showcase for the second time in a row on Fiskum Field. The Warhawks cruised to a 4-0 win over Benedictine. All four goals were scored by different Warhawks.
The Warhawks opened up the game with a controlled attack, putting multiple shots on goal. Benedictine recorded their own shot on goal in the 10th minute, but it was stopped by
Kara Smith (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield South).Â
The Warhawks found the back of the net on a long through-ball from
Abby LaMere (Green Bay, Wis./Notre Dame) to
Kaidence Horner (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community). Horner just had to beat the goalie to put the Warhawks up 1-0 heading into the halftime break.Â
The second half began with UWW applying immediate pressure, with
Genevieve Simkowski (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) finding the net in the 51st minute, assisted by
Jasmine Wilson (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton), extending their lead. Just minutes later, Brooklyn Carlson scored again at the 56th minute with another assist form Wilson. The Warhawks tacked on one more goal on a set piece, with
Rowan Severson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb) heading it in from
Anna Gunderson's (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) corner goal in the 59th minute.
Kara Smith (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield South) backed the net for the full 90 minutes, making two saves in her first career clean sheet. The Warhawks put 23 total shots on goal, while holding BenU to just two with no corner opportunities.
The Warhawks head out on the road for their next two games, starting with Wheaton on September 24th. They will return home on October 4th for their conference opener against UW-River Falls.
