Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wilson's Late Goal Gives UWW a Season Opener Win

UWW Goal by #22 Jenna Wilson, Assisted by #13 Lilli Rick & #14 Kalee Fricke

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater opened the season with a home win over Bethel University at Robert W. Fiskum Field on Monday. The Warhawks had the offensive pressure nearly the whole game, and it paid off with a Jasmine Wilson (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) goal in the 72nd minute.

The first half began with a defensive highlight as Hannah Wolf (Oshkosh, Wis./West) made the first save of the 2025 season in the 11th minute. UWW was able to create the counter attack, taking their own shot on goal by Rowan Severson (Mount Horeb, Wis./Mount Horeb). The Warhawks kept up the pressure, taking six shots on goal compared to Bethel's three. The Warhawks controlled the ball for 61% of the first half. But despite the offensive pressure, the first 45 minutes remained scoreless.

After the break, the game plan didn't change offensively from UW-Whitewater. The Warhawks kept up the pressure, taking 4 more shots on goal. The pressure also showed up in the corner kick column, with UWW tallying 9 in the second half after just one opportunity in the first.

The extended pressure from UW-Whitewater caused a Bethel turnover in the attacking zone, a well-placed through pass from Kalee Fricke (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) pulled the defenders to the left side of the field. Lilli Rick (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig) set up the cross for Jasmine Wilson (Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) to redirect the ball for the first goal of the 2025 season.

The Warhawks tried to add a bracer, but Bethel fended off the Warhawks for the remaining 15 minutes, ending in the 1-0 win.

Hannah Wolf (Oshkosh, Wis./West) recorded a shutout with five saves, playing the full 90 minutes.

The Warhawks head to Decorah for their next match against Luther College, the road contest is set to being at 7 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd. The women will then return home on Saturday, September 6th to take on Marian. Saturday's game is a part of the Purple Wave week at UW-Whitewater and is also Women's Soccer's Youth Day.
