Baseball

Scolan, Matt

Position: Matt Scolan - Senior - OF - Downers Grove, Ill./South
 

Matt Scolan set career marks during the Warhawks' 6-1 week. Against Rockford on Tuesday, Scolan broke the WIAC Record for runs in a career, crossing the plate for the 226th time. Then, in the last game of the UW-Stout series, Scolan broke the UWW Career Home Run Record with his 48th homer as a Warhawk. Throughout the 7 games this week, Scolan batted .452 (14-31) with two doubles, a triple, and five home runs. Scolan brought in 10 runs while rounding 16 times on his own. 
 

Hansen, Cade

Pitcher: Cade Hansen - Junior - RHP - New Braunfels, Texas/Smithson Valley
 

Cade Hansen picked up two wins this week to help the Warhawks to a 6-1 record. In his first appearance, the junior went 5.0 innings against UW-Oshkosh with five hits and only two earned runs while fanning three. In his second win of the week against UW-Stout, Hansen went 7.0 innings with only one hit and did not issue a single walk. Hansen recorded 13 Ks, a career-high and tied-7th in the Warhawk record book. 
 

Softball

Position: Emma Giese - Junior - Shortstop - Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail
 

Emma Giese led the Warhawks to a 6-0 week on the diamond last week. The junior played every game at shortstop for UWW registering multiple hits in three contests. She was a perfect 2-2 in the second game against UW-Platteville while adding a pair of hits in the second games against Chicago and UW-La Crosse. For the week, Giese hit .474 (9-19) with 7 RBI, 6 runs scored and 3 extra base hits. Her on base percentage for the week was 56.5 and her slugging percentage hit 78.9. 
 

Pitcher: Brooke Hock - Junior - RHP - Green Bay, Wis./Preble
 

Brooke Hock made four appearances in the circle last week picking up a pair of wins and a save. She tossed the final 2.1 innings in an offensive showcase against UW-Platteville to register the save. In a game against Chicago, she struck out six in five shutout innings to register her first save of the week. Hock appeared in both games against UW-La Crosse Saturday. She tossed the final three innings in game one without allowing a run while striking out five. In game two, Hock tallied the win in 3.2 innings of work where she allowed a single earned run. For the week, Hock struck out 13 in 14 innings of work. 
 

Men's Tennis

Singles: Giovanni Vitali - Junior - Galgagnano, Italy/San Francesco
 

Giovanni Vitali helped secure the Warhawks' dual match against Kalamazoo with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at the fourth singles flight. In the first set, the junior was down 4-5, but won the final three games to claim set one. Vitali carried the momentum into a back-and-forth set two, eventually taking the match with the 6-4 second set. 
 

Doubles:  Drew Van Fossen – Senior – Germantown, Wis./Germantown & Will Ulrich – Senior – Lincoln, Neb/Pius X
 

Drew Van Fossen and Will Ulrich picked up the lone doubles win in the Warhawks' dual against Kalamazoo. The pair got off to a hot start, winning the first three games before cruising to the 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Men's Track: 4x100 Relay: Nick McFadden - Senior - Waukesha, Wis./Pewaukee; Sam Vargas - Freshman - Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead; Andy VanZile - Senior - New Berlin, Wis./West; Caleb Beightol - Sophomore - Belgium, Wis./Cedar Grove-Belgium
 

The UW-Whitewater men's 4x100 relay squad broke the program record that had stood since 2007 at the Warhawks' Drake Alternative Meet last week. Nick McFadden, Sam Vargas, Andy VanZile and Caleb Beightol combined to go 40.50 - the fastest in the WIAC and third-fastest in Division III this season.

 

Cystrunk, Marlon

Men's Field: Marlon Cystrunk - Senior - Javelin - DeForest, Wis./DeForest
 

Marlon Cystrunk registered the second-best javelin in program history at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet last week. Cystrunk recorded a mark of 57.42 meters (188-5) to win the event. He also won the 110 meter hurdles with a clocking of 14.73.

Women's Track: 4x100 Relay – Danielle Pouska – Junior – Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs; Dakota Mitchell – Freshman – Sun Prairie, Wis./West; Kelly Huerta – Freshman – McHenry, Ill./McHenry; Cici Stennett – Freshman – Barrington, Ill.


The UW-Whitewater women’s 4x100 relay team set the program record for the third time this season at the Warhawks' Drake Alternative Meet on Thursday. Danielle Pouska, Dakota Mitchell, Kelly Huerta and Cici Stennett combined to cross the line in 45.92 - the second-fastest in Division III this season.
 

Burr, Abby

Women's Field: Abby Burr - Freshman - High Jump - Lancaster, Wis.
 

Abby Burr claimed a share of seventh in the high jump at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet last week. She cleared a height of 1.57 meters (5-1.75). Burr was also 12th in the javelin with a mark of 23.95 meters (78-7).
