The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field team finished up their competitions during the last chance meets. Various Warhawks competed at Ripon, Wartburg, and UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
Ripon - Saturday
The Ripon NCAA Final Qualifier had two Warhawk throwers. On the men's side,
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) took 2nd overall, tossing a 17.84 (58-6.5). The senior adde nearly another foot to his season-best from Friday's Firebird Finale. On the women's side,
Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) placed 6th with a 15.71m toss in the weight throw.
Wartburg - Saturday
Over at Wartburg, the Warhawk distance runners collected a few personal and season bests.
In the men's mile, Matt Andreano set a new personal best with 4:19.92. Andreano finished 14th overall. In the 3000m, Conner Murphy set his own personal best, with a 8:43.98 to taked 15th overall.
For the women at Wartburg,
Ari De La Cerda (Milwaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) and
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./) ran in the women's one mile. De La Cerda set a new season best, timing in at 5:01.25 for 5th place.
La Crosse - Saturday
Over at UW-La Crosse, Warhawk sprinters kept improving on their times on the NCAA leaderboard.
For the 60m finals,
Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) placed third overall with a 7.65. Teammate
Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./) also ran in the finals heat, placing 7th overall with a 7.69. Both improved their season best times, moving up on the NCAA leaderboard.
Both Mitchell and Huerta placed in the top 10 in the 200m. Huerta placed 7th, crossing at 25.22 while Mitchell timed in at 25.28 for 8th.
For the men at UWL,
Myles Anderson (Milwaukee, Wis./Lutheran) and
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) each placed in the finals heat after prelims. Anderson took 6th with a 6.88 while VanZile added 8th for 6.92.
Kobe Chandler (Beloit, WI/Memorial) took 4th overall in the Men's 400m, timing in at 48.73.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field team started off their weekend of last chance meets at the Firebird Finale in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Multiple Warhawks looked to improve their standings on the national times list.
In the women's 55m dash,
Dakota Mitchell (Sun Prairie, Wis./West) and
Kelly Huerta (McHenry, Ill./) took the top two spots. Mitchell crossed at 7.12 in the finals, Huerta timed in at 7.15. With the conversions to 60m, Mitchell ranks 25th in the nation with her new time, while Huerta sits at 40th.
On the men's side
Andy VanZile (New Berlin, Wis./West) took first with a 6.39 in the 55m.
Ayodele Bateye (Saint Charles, Ill./North) placed third, timing in at 6.45.
In the field events, Brynn Fuerstnebrg and
Danielle Pouska (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) both topped the leaderboard for Women's High Jump. Fuerstenberg and Pouska both finished at 1.56m for 2nd and 3rd place.
In the Men's Weight throw,
Sean Larsen (Waukesha, Wis./South) set a new season-high throwing for 17.59m (57-8.50) for second place. Larsen improved his national position up to 41st.
On the women's side of the weight throw.
Ryleigh Czarnecki (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) also improved, jumping up to 38th in the nation. Czarnecki threw for 16.19m (53-1.50) placed 4th overall in the event.
