Pacific Grove, Calif. -The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's golf team rounded out the two-day UC Santa Cruz Invite on Sunday afternoon in Pacific Grove, California.
The Warhawks improved from the previous round, dropping 16 strokes as a team to finish with a 330 on the day. They remained 11th overall for the meet, finishing with a 676 (346-330) against some of the top teams in the nation.
Ellie Johnson (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) was the Warhawk leader on the individual board, finishing 28th overall with a 162 (78-84)
Three Warhawks improved their individual standings by 10 or more places after the second round of competition.
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) led the contingency with a 164 (83-81) to finish 33rd overall.Â
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) bumped up to 58th place to finish with a 175 total (92-83).
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) improved 11 spots after dropping 15 strokes on the second day. Lux placed 65th with a total of 179 (97-82).
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) placed 75th with a 190 (93-97).
Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) finished 58th with a two-day stroke total of 175 (88-87), competing as an individual.

The UW-Whitewater women's golf team opened its spring slate at the UC Santa Cruz Invite Saturday. The #46 Warhawks are 11th in the 12-team field that features 10 of the top 50 programs in Division III.Â
UW-Whitewater carded a 346 Saturday led by
Ellie Johnson's (Johnsburg, Ill./Johnsburg) 78. Her mark is tied for 22nd on the individual leaderboard.
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) is among the top 50 individually with a round one score of 83.
Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) (88),
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) (92),
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) (93) and
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) (97) rounded out the Warhawks' team of six competing at the invite.Â
The tournament will conclude Sunday.Â
