Golfers Finish Third at Firebird

The UW-Whitewater women's golf team opened the season with a third place finish at the Firebird Fall Invite hosted by Carthage Saturday. 

The Warhawks' top squad combined for a +67, just one stroke out of second. Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) continued to lead UWW, carding a two-day total of +11 to finish third in the 90-player field. Delainey Halverson's (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) +16 finish was good for a top ten mark at the invite. Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) and Natalie Kammer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) tied for 20th going +20 on the weekend. Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) rounded out the squad at +27 to finish among the top half individually. 

A second UW-Whitewater fivesome finished sixth in the 16-team field. Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) was the top golfer in the squad with a +14 to tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard. Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) finished among the top 20 at +19. Alexa Reed (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) (+28), Avery Sallmann (Dousman, Wis./Kettle Moraine) (+29) and Olivia Kernen (Appleton, Wis./Hortonville) (+31) rounded out the group. 

Maeve Niemiec (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) and Kaylee Erickson (Eau Claire, Wis./North) tied at +28 to finish among top half of the field competing as an individuals this weekend.

The UW-Whitewater women's golf team opened the 2026-27 campaign at the Firebird Fall Invite Friday hosted by Carthage. After the first day of competition, the Warhawks are third on the team leaderboard while a second UWW squad is sixth in the 16-team field. 

Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) is pacing UWW's top squad with a +7 on day one - the second-best score on the day. Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) is ranked among the top ten three strokes back from her teammate. Natalie Kammer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson) posted a +14 while Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) came in at +15 and Breezy Roman (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) rounded out the fivesome at +16. 

Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) had the top round on the second UWW squad. Coming in a +10, Vanderhei is ranked 10th on the individual leaderboard. Alexa Reed (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) is also among the top 20 at +13. Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) (+14), Avery Sallman (+18) and Olivia Kernen (Appleton, Wis./Hortonville) (+19) rounded out the group. 

UW-Whitewater is also represented by a pair of golfers competing as individuals including Maeve Niemiec (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) (+16) and Kaylee Erickson (Eau Claire, Wis./North) (+18). 

The Firebird Fall Invite is slated to wrap up Saturday.
